Reason enough for MRL Advisors to highlight the ownership structure of manufacturers there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>State-owned companies dominate China&#8217;s automotive industry<\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">State-controlled<\/mark><\/strong> State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) form the largest single <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">largest single manufacturer group<\/mark> <\/strong>of the Chinese automotive industry with  <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">about 37%<\/mark><\/strong>  of the Chinese production volume<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">23%<\/mark><\/strong> are produced by <strong>joint ventures <\/strong>in which an <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">SOE holds at least 50%<\/mark><\/strong><\/mark> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Together these are  <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">about 60%<\/mark><\/strong>  of all vehicles produced in China by <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">clearly or largely state-controlled manufacturers<\/mark> <\/strong> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>About <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>one third<\/strong><\/mark> of the vehicles produced in China come from Chinese <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>privately owned companies<\/strong><\/mark> (listed on the stock exchange)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Only 5%<\/mark> <\/strong>of the volume is produced by <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">clearly foreign-controlled manufacturer joint ventures<\/mark><\/strong> &#8211; these are BMW, Audi and Nissan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>With <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">TESLA<\/mark><\/strong> there is <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">only one<\/mark><\/strong> automobile manufacturer <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">completely foreign-owned in China<\/mark><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p style=\"font-size:24px\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><em>&#8220;Joint ventures used to be mandatory for car manufacturers &#8211; this has no longer been the case since 2022.&#8221;<\/em> <\/mark><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong style=\"white-space: normal;\"><mark style=\"background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); color: rgb(68, 92, 119);\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Strategic partnerships with Chinese manufacturers<\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cooperation continues even without joint venture constraints: Volkswagen, with a long history in China and several joint ventures with state-owned companies (SAIC, FAW), has formed a strategic partnership with the private company XPeng, for example, which according to Volkswagen is producing excellent results &#8211; color: rgb(68, 92, 119);\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong><strong>Europe in the focus of Chinese producers <\/strong><\/strong><\/mark><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to surveys conducted by MRL Advisors in the Chinese automotive industry, the majority of manufacturers surveyed want to grow significantly abroad &#8211; above all in Europe, as the US market presents considerable hurdles for Chinese manufacturers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#445c77\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Conclusion &#8211; more partnerships with influence  <\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Partnerships with Chinese companies are important and appropriate in tech sectors such as the automotive industry. However, the number of companies in the industry that are clearly controlled by a foreign brand is still low after many years of the dissolution of the joint venture constraint.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In China, MRL Advisors generally advocates partner models that are actually stable and future-oriented for all partners involved in the long term. Some of the competencies of European companies from tech industries are still considered to be value-adding in China, and access to the European market is a major asset.
